The famous Spanish painter José Jiménez Aranda (1837 - 1903) arrived in Italy in 1871 and remained there for four years.
From this period is the suggestive painting that appears in this post, dedicated to the Lower Basilica of Assisi, entitled "Penitentes en la Basílica Inferior de Asís" (oil on canvas; 53.5 x 79.5 cm) made in 1874 and which we can admire today in the very prestigious Museo del Prado in Madrid (Spain).

Il famoso pittore spagnolo José Jiménez Aranda (1837 – 1903) giunse in Italia nel 1871 e vi rimase per quattro anni.
Di questo periodo è il suggestivo dipinto che si presenta in questo post, dedicato alla Basilica Inferiore di Assisi, dal titolo “Penitentes en la Basílica Inferior de Asís“ (olio su tela; 53.5 x 79.5 cm) realizzato nel 1874 e che oggi possiamo ammirare nel prestigiosissimo Museo del Prado di Madrid (Spagna).
