> The Rosone, by Andrea di Cione, known as Orcagna (1354-1380), represents the central point and catalyst of those who observe the façade of the Cathedral of Orvieto.
It is formed by a double circle of columns with intertwined arches, where in the center stands the face of Christ the Redeemer surrounded by 4 mosaics in the segments. These are by Piero di Puccio (1388), and depict the 4 doctors of the church: Sant’Agostino, San Gregorio Magno, San Girolamo and Sant’Ambrogio. Externally, the Rosone surrounds itself with other sculptures that represent, among others, the apostles and 12 prophets
