() UMBRIA'S ARTWORK AROUND THE WORLD

The "Adoration of the Shepherds" is a fresco painted by Pinturicchio (c. 1452 - 1513) between 1500 and 1501 on the central wall of the Baglioni Chapel (or "Beautiful Chapel") in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Spello (Perugia - Umbria).

In this work the most sincere qualities of the painter shine, he paints with all simplicity and in his touch there is a rare expressive force that touches the artistic peak reached by the painter in his long career.

The scene of the painting is set in the meadow in front of the hut with Maria, who wears a blue mantle embellished with a star on her shoulder, intent on contemplating adoring the Baby Child.

And it is precisely to this magnificent detail that my post is dedicated.

L' “Adorazione dei pastori” è un affresco, eseguito, tra il 1500 e il 1501, dal Pinturicchio (1452 ca. - 1513) sulla parete centrale della Cappella Baglioni (o "Cappella Bella") nella Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore a Spello (Perugia).

Rifulgono in quest'opera le qualità più sincere del pittore, egli dipinge con tutta semplicità e nel suo tocco vi è una rara forza espressiva che tocca la vetta artistica a cui è giunto il pittore nella sua lunga carriera.

La scena del dipinto è ambientata nel prato davanti alla capanna con Maria, che indossa un manto blu impreziosito da una stella sulla spalla, intenta a contemplare adorante il Bambinello.

Ed è proprio a questo magnifico dettaglio che è dedicato il mio post.
