The grotesque decorated dish presented in this post, executed around 1520 by Nicola Francioli, one of the most significant exponents of the historiated decoration of the 1500s, is among the most refined examples of Deruta majolica production.
The work (27.5 cm diameter) is characterized by the admirable workmanship of the imaginative, fantastic, sometimes humorous and always overflowing of vitality that adorn it.
The work, from 1910, is preserved in the highly prestigious "Victoria and Albert Museum" in London (England).

Il piatto decorato a grottesche che si presenta in questo post, eseguito intorno al 1520 da Nicola Francioli, uno degli esponenti più significativi della decorazione istoriata del 1500, è tra gli esempi più raffinati della produzione di majolica di Deruta.
L'opera (diametro di 27,5 cm) si contraddistingue per la mirabile fattura delle figure fantasiose, fantastiche, a volte umoristiche e sempre debordanti di vitalità che la ornano.
L'opera, dal 1910, è conservata nel prestigiosissimo “Victoria and Albert Museum” di Londra (Inghilterra).
