An unknown artist from Deruta (in Umbria) created, around 1520, this rare and precious “Bacile da versatore” (majolica; diameter: 39.2 cm). The work is all modeled in relief except for the central medallion where a naked woman, seated on a bench, is intent on tuning a lute, with a little dog standing next to her.
The basin is kept in the highly prestigious "Metropolitan Museum of Art" in New York (United States of America).

Un ignoto artista di Deruta (Perugia - Umbria) ha realizzato, intorno al 1520, questo raro e prezioso “Bacile da versatore” (majolica; diametro: 39,2 cm). L'opera è tutta modellata a rilievo ad eccezione del medaglione centrale dove una donna, nuda, seduta su una panca, è intenta ad accordare un liuto, con accanto un cagnolino che la osserva.
Il nostro bacile è custodito nel prestigiosissimo “Metropolitan Museum of Art” di New York (Stati uniti d'America).
