> Under the current Piazza del Comune, dominated by the Roman Temple of Minerva (1 century BC), the ancient Roman Forum can be visited, which was found during excavations in 1836.
Access to the underground from Via Portica, passing through the Romanesque crypt of the former church of San Nicolò "de platea", where sarcophagi, capitals and inscriptions from Assisi or the immediate surroundings are exposed.
The remains of the Forum include the base of the temple with the access doors to the pronaos, a monumental cistern, a podium with seats for the magistrates, a tetrastyle temple dedicated to Castore and Polluce.

> Sotto l’odierna Piazza del Comune, dominata dal Tempio romano di Minerva (1 sec. a.C.), è visitabile l’antico Foro romano che fu ritrovato nel corso di scavi compiuti nel 1836.
Si accede al sotterraneo da via Portica, passando per la cripta romanica dell’ex chiesa di San Nicolò “de platea”, dove sono esposti sarcofagi, capitelli e iscrizioni provenienti da Assisi o dagli immediati dintorni.
I resti del Foro comprendono il basamento del tempio con le porte di accesso al pronao, una cisterna monumentale, un podio con i seggi per i magistrati, un tempietto tetrastilo dedicato a Castore e Polluce.
