The juxtaposition on a surface, of small sections of matter called tesserae, gives shape to wonderful figurative "pictures" or of geometric decoration.
It is the ancient technique of mosaic or opus tessellatum, as in the case of our floor mosaic. The small pieces of marble, white, red and black, are cubic in shape and about 1 centimeter large.

L'accostamento su una superficie, di piccole sezioni di materia dette tessere, dà forma a meravigliosi "quadri" figurati o di decorazione geometrica.
E' l'antica tecnica del mosaico o opus tessellatum, come nel caso del nostro mosaico pavimentale. Le piccole tessere di marmo, bianco, rosso e nero, sono di forma cubica e grandi all'incirca 1 centimetro.
