The origins of the village date back to the seventeenth century, and its unique charm has remained constant over centuries. The architectural details, which have been recently brought back to the surface of this tiny village are evident. The square and stables, the sheepfold, the mill, the granary, and the great outdoor courts, were all once essential tools for life in the countryside.

Le Terre di Poreta is the expression of the integration among agriculture, tourism and culture. After the success of the newly-created production of pitted single-variety olive oils and organic cultivations of ancient local trees, in 2006 the Country Houses of Villa della Genga opened and, in May of 2009, the Borgo della Marmotta Farm Resort was inaugurated.

In 1673 the Villa was built in this secluded and unspoiled corner of Umbria. It was the hunting lodge of Cardinal Annibale della Genga who in 1823 was elected Pope with the name of Leo XII.

The gentle landscape, the elegance and comfort of the interiors, and the hospitality that harks back to ancient traditions, come together to make the Borgo della Marmotta the ideal location for discovering Umbria.

> Il Borgo della Marmotta Farm Resort sorge alle porte del piccolo paese di Poreta situato a metà strada tra Spoleto e Trevi. Le origini del borgo risalgono al medio evo ed il suo fascino è rimasto inalterato nei secoli; un raffinato restauro estremamente attento ai particolari lo ha riportato al suo antico incanto.
È ancora ben leggibile tramite i segni architettonici recentemente riportati alla luce l’antica funzione rurale di questo borgo; la piazzetta, le stalle, l'ovile, il frantoio, il granaio e le grandi aie all'aperto un tempo erano strumento essenziale per la vita di campagna.
Ora questi spazi nel tempo abbandonati hanno ripreso vita sotto una diversa forma, 11 camere, 7 appartamenti suite, un ristorante, i salotti, la zona benessere e il grande parco con la piscina.

Il Borgo della Marmotta oltre all'eleganza e al confort si propone di offrire un'ospitalità basata sul principio del sentirsi a casa. Nel 1673 venne costruita la bella villa in una cornice di rara bellezza e suggestiva quiete, fu la casa di caccia preferita del Cardinale Annibale della Genga che nel 1823 fu eletto Papa assumendo il nome di Leone XII.
