"Mary with the Child, Santa Rosa and Santa Caterina" (table; 86.5 x 63 cm) is a magnificent painting executed by Perugino around 1495. It is the moment in which the "Divine Painter" is maximally appreciated, influencing with his style many artists, even already famous.
In this period, it's contended by princes, rulers and great lords and is considered by his contemporaries "the best master of Italy". They are also the years in which the young Raphael was formed in his workshop.
From this painting emerges, as Vasari says, "a sweetness in the united colors" and a delicate and melancholic grace in the figures that enchants and leaves the viewer almost breathless.
The work, from the 1600s, belonged to the Imperial Collection of Austria and is today kept in the highly prestigious "Kunsthistorisches Museum" in Vienna.

“Maria con il Bambino, Santa Rosa e Santa Caterina” (tavola; 86,5 x 63 cm) è un magnifico dipinto eseguito dal Perugino intorno al 1495. È il momento in cui il “Divin Pittore” viene massimamente apprezzato, influenzando con il suo stile moltissimi artisti, anche già celebri. In questo periodo, è conteso da principi, regnanti e grandi signori ed è considerato dai suoi contemporanei "il meglio mastro d'Italia". Sono anche gli anni in cui si forma alla sua bottega il giovane Raffaello. Dal nostro dipinto emerge, come dice il Vasari, "una dolcezza ne’ colori unita" ed una grazia delicata e malinconica nelle figure che incanta e lascia lo spettatore quasi senza respiro.
L'opera, dal 1600, è appartenuta alla Collezione Imperiale d'Austria ed è oggi custodita nel prestigiosissimo “Kunsthistorisches Museum” di Vienna.
