Mazzetti succeeded in bringing Perugia to the Serie B for the first time in a single round. The decisive match is that of 21 maglio 1967, Perugia-Sambenedettese 1-0, network of Eros Lolli from outside the area.

There is a nice anecdote: "One year, in Perugia, you will exaggerate a little. Proclamation - Mazzetti said - that if the Ternana had been ahead of us at the end of the championship, I would have changed jobs. The Ternana arrived first and I was chased by the fans : "Mazzetti, change job!".

This is Guido Mazzetti, not just a coach but a free man, determined and polite, unable to resist the temptation and the taste of a joke. A specialist who spoke to the hearts of his boys and at the same time strengthened the technique. A life with a suitcase on the outskirts of football, but always ready to accept the most arduous missions.

He leaves Perugia, his two sons Luciano and Guglielmo and the Grifo fans on February 14th 1997.

Today the entrance square to the "R. Curi" stadium bears his name. The AC Perugia Soccer Museum is reminiscent of a character for all he has represented for this city and for the club's history. Bye Guido, Perugia is grateful to you and will always remember you.

Questo è Guido Mazzetti, non solo un allenatore ma un uomo libero, deciso e garbato, incapace di resistere alla tentazione e al gusto di una battuta. Uno specialista che parlava al cuore dei suoi ragazzi e al contempo ne potenziava la tecnica. Una vita con la valigia alla periferia del calcio, ma sempre pronto ad accettare le missioni più ardue.

Lascia Perugia, i suoi due figli Luciano e Guglielmo e i tifosi del Grifo il 14 febbraio 1997.

Oggi il piazzale di ingresso allo Stadio "R. Curi" porta il suo nome. L'AC Perugia Calcio Museo ricorda un personaggio per tutto quello che ha rappresentato per questa città e per la storia del club. Ciao Guido, Perugia ti è grata e ti ricorderà sempre.
