One of the special places in Foligno (Perugia) is undoubtedly the Oratorio della Nunziatella and this post is dedicated to the frescoes of a wall of this surprisingly rich oratory.
In the left half of our photo, below, inside a gilded wooden shrine you can see the image of the "announced Virgin", the work of an unknown artist of the fifteenth century, and next to it, in the empty box on the right, we should have admire the "Annunciation Angel" by Lattanzio di Nicolò, if it hadn't been stolen by the "usual unknown" in 1980. In 1489 this newsstand with its "Annunciation" was the protagonist of a miraculous event that determined the construction of a sanctuary in honor of the "Annunciation Virgin". Our newsstand is surrounded by a fresco dated 1575, of uncertain attribution, depicting the Holy Spirit among angels and, below, San Feliciano and a blessed. But the biggest surprise comes from observing, in the right half of our photo, the altar of San Giovanni Battista frescoed, around 1510, by Perugino with the "Baptism of Christ" and the setting is probably a glimpse of the countryside around Foligno. Above, in the cap, the Eternal is depicted adored by two angels, also by Perugino.

Uno dei luoghi speciali di Foligno (Perugia) è senza dubbio l'Oratorio della Nunziatella ed il post è dedicato agli affreschi di una parete di questo sorprendentemente ricco oratorio.
Nella metà di sinistra della nostra foto, in basso, all'interno di un'edicola lignea dorata si vede l’immagine della “Vergine annunciata”, opera di un ignoto artista del Quattrocento ed accanto, nel riquadro vuoto di destra, avremmo dovuto ammirare l’ “Angelo annunziante” di Lattanzio di Nicolò, se non fosse stato rubato dai “soliti ignoti” nel 1980.
Nel 1489 questa edicola con la sua “Annunciazione” fu protagonista di un evento miracoloso che determinò la costruzione di un santuario in onore della “Vergine Annunziata”. La nostra edicola è contornata da un affresco datato 1575, di attribuzione incerta, raffigurante lo Spirito santo fra angeli e, in basso, San Feliciano e un beato. Ma la sorpresa più grossa ci viene osservando, nella metà di destra della nostra foto, l’altare di San Giovanni Battista affrescato, intorno al 1510, dal Perugino con il “Battesimo di Cristo” e l'ambientazione è, probabilmente, uno scorcio delle campagne intorno a Foligno. In alto, nella calotta, è raffigurato l’Eterno adorato da due angeli, sempre del Perugino.
