The work object of this post (oil on panel, 39.5 x 28.5) represents a female head in profile, slightly turned towards the viewer, dressed and styled according to the typical fashion of the early sixteenth century. The carefully studied design shows a gently relaxed face, a beautiful pointed nose, a slender neck, and elegantly semi-closed eyelids.
The work, dating from around 1510 and attributed to an anonymous artist from the Umbrian school, was first located in Berlin in 1929 and then moved to a private American collection in 1930. Since 1960, it has been kept in the National Gallery of Art in Washington (United States of America).

L’opera oggetto di questo post (olio su tavola, 39,5 x 28,5) rappresenta una testa femminile di profilo, leggermente ruotata verso lo spettatore, vestita ed acconciata secondo la moda tipica del primo Cinquecento. Il disegno, accuratamente studiato, evidenzia un volto dolcemente rilassato, il bel naso appuntito, il collo slanciato, e le palpebre elegantemente semichiuse.
L'opera, databile intorno al 1510 ed attribuita ad un anonimo artista della scuola umbra, è stata localizzata per la prima volta a Berlino nel 1929 per poi passare, nel 1930, in una collezione privata americana. Dal 1960, è custodita nella National Gallery of Art di Washington (Stati Uniti d’America).
