The Cathedral of San Feliciano is located in Piazza della Repubblica, the ancient Roman forum and beating heart of the city of Foligno
It stands on the place where San Feliciano, the bringer of religion to the city, was martyred and buried in 251 AD. According to legend, after lengthy torture, Feliciano was chained to a chariot and dragged by galloping horses to his death. Built in 1113 by Master Atto, as documented by an inscription on the main façade, in 1201 works began to enlarge the building with a second facade; in the 16th and 17th centuries, it was restored many more times, radically changing the structure of the Cathedral.

La cattedrale di San Feliciano si trova in piazza della Repubblica, antica platea magna di Foligno.
Sorge sul luogo ove fu martirizzato e sepolto nel 251 d.C. san Feliciano, evangelizzatore della città. Secondo la leggenda, dopo essere stato a lungo torturato, Feliciano venne incatenato ad una biga e trascinato dai cavalli al galoppo, finché sopraggiunse la morte. Edificato nel 1113 ad opera di Maestro Atto, come documenta una iscrizione posta sulla facciata principale, a partire dal 1201 fu ampliato con la facciata secondaria; nei secoli XVI e XVII si eseguirono ulteriori restauri che modificarono radicalmente la struttura del Duomo.
