Legend has it that "on the place where the lake is now there was the home of a rich and miserable farmer named Chiarò, who wanted to thresh the wheat on the day of St. Anna, a day in the country tradition strictly dedicated to rest and party of the mother of the Madonna. Because of this desire, which contravened the rule, it tells the tradition that the threshing floor, where it was threshing, sank with all the men who were working on it, forming immediately after a pond, the current one. The pious wife of Chiarò escaped the danger with a child but a stream of water followed her and submerged the son of the peasant example in the place where now is a small spring called the Aisillo ".

La leggenda narra che “sul luogo dove ora è il lago c'era la casa di un ricco ed avaro contadino a nome Chiarò, che volle trebbiare il grano il giorno di S. Anna, giorno nella tradizione contadina dedicato rigorosamente al riposo ed alla festa della madre della Madonna. Per questa sua volontà, che contravveniva alla regola, narra la tradizione che l’aia, dove si stava trebbiando, sprofondò con tutti gli uomini che vi stavano lavorando, formandosi subito dopo un laghetto, l’attuale. La pia moglie di Chiarò scampò al pericolo con un bambino ma un rivo d’acqua la seguì e sommerse il figlio dell’empio contadino nel luogo ove ora è una piccola sorgente detta l’Aisillo".
