The "Madonna with the Child Writing and St. Jerome" is a painting by Pinturicchio made with oil technique on wood around 1481, measuring 49.5 x 38 cm. and is kept in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
A masterpiece remained hidden for who knows how long it emerged from oblivion, at the turn of 1800 and 1900, immediately arousing the attention of the greatest critics, given its exceptional quality
The table presents an unusual representation, where the Madonna appears with the Child in her arms while she is writing something on a book. An allusion, this, to reiterate his intervention in the Holy Scriptures. On the right, the figure of Saint Jerome appears in the cardinal's habit with his hand resting on a book, one of his typical attributes as a literate and cultured man. On the right there is a wide landscape that fades in the distance, a typical element of the Umbrian school.

La “Madonna col Bambino scrivente e san Girolamo” è un dipinto di Pinturicchio realizzato con tecnica a olio su tavola intorno al 1481, misura 49,5 x 38 cm. ed è custodito nella Gemäldegalerie a Berlino.
Un capolavoro rimasto celato per chissà quanto tempo riemerse dall'oblio, a cavallo del 1800 e 1900, subito destando le attenzioni dei più grandi critici, data la sua eccezionale qualità
La tavola si presenta con un’inconsueta rappresentazione, ove la Madonna appare con il Bambino in braccio mentre sta scrivendo qualcosa su un libro. Un’allusione, questa, a ribadire il suo intervento nelle Sacre Scritture. A destra appare, tagliata, la figura di San Girolamo nell'abito cardinalizio con la mano appoggiata su un libro, uno dei suoi tipici attributi in quanto uomo letterato e colto. A destra si apre un ampio paesaggio che sfuma in lontananza, elemento tipico della scuola umbra.
