The saint, depicted by the other painters as a martyr with a half-naked body, bleeding and pierced by numerous arrows, becomes, by the innovative brush of Perugino, an elegant and noble figure who, with the same grace with which he wears ornate parade armor, in his hand an arrow that, as represented, no longer looks like a weapon or an instrument of death.

Il santo, raffigurato dagli altri pittori come martire dal corpo seminudo, sanguinante e trafitto da numerose frecce, diventa, ad opera del pennello innovatore del Perugino, una elegantissima e nobile figura che, con la stessa grazia con cui indossa decoratissime armature da parata, tiene in mano una freccia che, così rappresentata, non sembra più un'arma né uno strumento di morte.
