> MONTE DEL LAGO, located in a small promontory near Lake Trasimeno, was fortified in the fourteenth century and became the administrative seat of the goods deriving from the lake during the papal domination. The name derives from the Latin Mons Fontegianus, but during the Middle Ages the locality was simply called "monte", while in modern times the Latin term fontegianus was Italianized in "del Lago".
Important is the Church of Sant'Andrea of the fourteenth century, which has inside the fifteenth century frescoes. The building was restored in 1942. Worthy of note is the fresco on the Crucifixion, attributed to a local artist. Another famous structure is the Villa Palombaro Schnabl. The villa became the property of the musicologist Riccardo Schnabl Rossi in 1898, which frequently hosted Puccini and other artists.
