> CONVENTO DI ACQUA PREMULA
The villa, located on the left side of the Valle del Vigi, takes its name from an ancient spring, Acqua Premula, used for centuries in calculosis, a disease called by the Premiti locals. The water, which flows directly from a crack in the rock, has been bottled since 1974 with the FONTE TVLLIA trademark. Around the year 1000, in the villa stood the oratory of a monastic cell dedicated to San Nicola di Bari, a cult introduced in Valnerina by Syrian and Oriental monks (S. Nicolaus Acquae Premulae vel Primulae Vallis Vigi). Since the early Middle Ages there has been an intense monastic life in this place, under the guidance of an abbot. From this derives not only a consistent development of economic activities and settlements, but also an inevitable increase in the ecclesiastical order, favoring the birth of new civic sites. Subsequently, in 1115, the bishop of Spoleto, Enrico Gualfredo, gave the oratories to the Benedictine abbot Leto; the oratory thus passed to the Benedictine monks of Sant'Eutizio di Valcastoriana. In Visit Lascaris of September 10, 1713, Monsignor Lascaris, then Bishop of Spoleto, remembering the origins of San Nicola di Acqua Premula, also reports that in that hermitage, at the end of the fifth century, San Severino had taken refuge, before assuming episcopal dignity. In the mid-sixteenth century, the Benedictines donated the Church to the Capuchin Friars. The earliest evidence dates back to 1568. The Capuchins, starting from 1624, built the Convent, next to the pre-existing church. After completion of the works, the place took the name of Convent of Acqua Premula, at the disposition of the provincial minister. Confirmation of the donation occurred in 1253 in a Bull of the Bishop Bartolomeo Accoramboni and in 1424 by Pope Martino. They date back to the Benedictine period, the Byzantine crypt and the Romanesque Church.

A familiar and welcoming environment where you can appreciate the flavors of the Umbrian tradition. La Foresteria Restaurant was born in the old refectory where the Friars gathered to eat meals together. The guesthouse was an environment usually present in the monasteries to accommodate and accommodate pilgrims, travelers and travelers. La villa, situata sul lato sinistro della Valle del Vigi, prende il nome da una antica sorgente, Acqua Premula, utilizzata per secoli nella calcolosi, malattia chiamata dalla popolazione del luogo Premiti. L’acqua, che scaturisce direttamente da una fenditura della roccia, dal 1974 viene imbottigliato con il marchio di fabbrica FONTE TVLLIA . Intorno all’anno 1000, nella villa sorgeva l’oratorio di una cella monastica dedicata a San Nicola di Bari, culto introdotto in Valnerina dai monaci siriani ed orientali (S. Nicolaus Acquae Premulae vel Primulae Vallis Vigi). Sin dall’Alto Medioevo si hanno notizie di una intensa vita monastica in questo luogo, sotto la guida di un abate. Da questo derivò non solo un consistente sviluppo delle attività economiche e degli insediamenti, ma anche un inevitabile incremento nell’ordine ecclesiastico, favorendo la nascita di nuove sedi pievane. Successivamente, nel 1115, il vescovo di Spoleto, Enrico Gualfredo, donò l’oratori all’ abate benedettino Leto; l’oratorio passò così ai monaci benedettini di Sant’Eutizio di Valcastoriana. In Visita Lascaris del 10 settembre 1713, Mons. Lascaris, allora Vescovo di Spoleto, ricordando le origini di San Nicola di Acqua Premula, riferisce anche che in quell’ eremo, alla fine del V secolo, si era rifugiato San Severino, prima di assumere la dignità episcopale. A metà del XVI secolo, i Benedettini donarono la Chiesa ai Frati Cappuccini. Le prime testimonianze risalgono al 1568. I Cappuccini, a partire dal 1624, costruirono il Convento, accanto alla chiesa preesistente. Ultimati i lavori, il luogo prese il nome di Convento di Acqua Premula, su disposizione del ministro provinciale. Conferma dell’avvenuta donazione si ha nel 1253 in una Bolla del Vescovo Bartolomeo Accoramboni e nel 1424 da Papa Martino. Risalgono al periodo dei Benedettini, la cripta bizantina e la Chiesa Romanica.

Un ambiente familiare ed accogliente dove poter apprezzare i sapori della tradizione umbra. Il Ristorante La Foresteria nasce nel vecchio refettorio dove i Frati si riunivano per consumare insieme i pasti. La foresteria era un ambiente solitamente presente nei monasteri per accogliere ed ospitare pellegrini, viandanti e viaggiatori. I frati di Sellano, per far fronte ai numerosi ospiti, diedero vita ad una foresteria dove richiedevano una retta, la cosiddetta dozzena, a coloro che soggiornavano nel Convento. Il nostro intento è di cogliere lo stesso spirito di ospitalità semplice e autentico.
