> VILLA RONCALLI has a long history. Conceived in 1690 as a hunting lodge with annexes, all surrounded by a park, it was given its actual shape and structure by Count Roncalli (1844-1910). He seems to have been quite an ambiguous romantic personality, citizen of Foligno, libertine, freedom fighter, Jesuit and director of the Institute of Applied Arts. Being a notorious gambler he is said to have played away the Villa together with the whole property.
The Villa was completely restored in the 1980ies and opened for the guests in 1985. Angelo Scolastra, a passionate of antiques, has furnished the rooms, perfectly keeping the balance between refined elegance and rustic style.

> Die Villa hat eine lange Geschichte: Sie wurde 1630 erbaut als Jagdhaus mit grossem Umschwung und Nebengebäuden. Das heutige architektonische Erscheinungbild verdankt sich dem Grafen Roncalli (1844-1910), Bürger von Foligno, Freiheitskämpfer, Jesuit und Direktor am Institut für angewandte Künste. Man erzählt, der Graf habe Villa und Anwesen nach einem intensiv und ausschweifend gelebten Leben im Spiel verloren.
Nach mehrjähriger Restauration wurde die Villa Roncalli 1985 als Restaurant und Hotel eröffnet.

> La storia della Villa è lunga. Fu costruita nel 1630 circa come "casino di caccia" della famiglia Roncalli, con un grande parco attorno. Un famoso erede fu il conte Domenico Benedetti Roncalli (1844-1910), cittadino di Foligno, rivoluzionario e massone, Direttore dell‘Istituto di Arti Applicate. Si racconta che al termine di un'esistenza vissuta intensamente, Roncalli avrebbe perso la tenuta al gioco.
Dopo lunghi lavori di ripristino e restauro, la famiglia Scolastra ha aperto la Villa all'ospitalità nel 1985. Angelo Scolastra, appassionato di antiquariato, ha impreziosito i locali con raffinati pezzi tra i quali un magnifico e imponente armadio di farmacia, alto fino al soffitto.
