The history of the Castello di Petrata is rooted in the medieval times, in 1340, the year of its construction along the Franciscan path that connected Assisi to the nearby village of Gubbio.
Born as a villa since the end of the 15th century, it was strengthened by Sperello Sperelli which began to turn it into a true fortress to defend itself from the Baglioni.
After the period of jurisdiction of the Sacred Convent, it was transformed into a country house by the Tini family at the end of the sixteenth century and three centuries later it was first acquired by the Affuso family and, in 1996, by Romualdo Landrini and Giuseppina Orbi which has made it the magnificent structure we admire today.
The conservative restoration, lasting 4 years, has allowed to recover the ancient splendor of the dwelling while preserving features, conformation, spaces and original materials, both inside and outside.

La storia del Castello di Petrata affonda le radici in epoca medievale, nel 1340, anno della sua costruzione lungo il sentiero francescano che collegava Assisi al vicino borgo di Gubbio.
Nato come villa, fin dalla fine del XV secolo venne rafforzato da Sperello Sperelli che iniziò a trasformarlo in vera e propria fortezza per difendersi dai Baglioni.
Dopo il periodo di giurisdizione del Sacro Convento, viene trasformato in residenza di campagna dalla famiglia Tini sul finire del ‘600 e tre secoli più tardi è acquisito prima dall’impresa edile campana Affuso ed infine, nel 1996, dai coniugi Romualdo Landrini e Giuseppina Orbi che ne hanno fatto la magnifica struttura che ammiriamo oggi.
Il restauro conservativo, durato 4 anni, ha permesso di recuperare l’antico splendore della dimora pur preservando caratteristiche, conformazione, spazi e materiali originari, sia all’interno che all’esterno.
La fase successiva del progetto ha portato alla nascita del moderno Relais ...
