> CASTLE OF PISSIGNANO ALTO - Other rebellions and similar episodes occurred in 1522 and in 1580 when the famous bandit Leoncilli took over, who for a long time sowed terror throughout the territory of Spoleto, but these revolts were always faced with extreme strength from Spoleto. Until the end of the eighteenth century it remained under the Duchy of Spoleto, and then passed definitively to the town of Campello.

CURRENT ASPECT: The perimeter walls have a triangular shape. In the highest part of the slope is the summit tower, which is the highest, lower down a pentagonal tower, then transformed into a bell tower of the church of San Benedetto.
The houses are arranged terracing, this to obviate the slope of the land, and even today the village retains its medieval appearance.
Inside the inhabited area the Church of San Benedetto, where the sixteenth century frescoes in the apse representing the Assumption of the Virgin, signed by the Angelucci brothers of Mevale and the municipal building, are worthy of mention.

> CASTELLO DI PISSIGNANO ALTO - Altre ribellioni ed episodi simili si verificarono nel 1522 e nel 1580 quando vi si insediò il famoso bandito Leoncilli, che per vario tempo seminò il terrore in tutto il territorio di Spoleto, ma tali rivolte furono sempre fronteggiate con estrema forza dagli spoletini. Fino alla fine del XVIII secolo rimase sotto il Ducato di Spoleto, per poi passare definitivamente al comune di Campello.

ASPETTO ATTUALE: Le mura perimetrali hanno una forma triangolare. Nella parte più alta del pendio si trova la torre di vertice,che è la più alta, più in basso una torre pentagonale, trasformata poi in campanile della chiesa di San Benedetto.
Le case sono disposte a terrazzamento, questo per ovviare alla pendenza del terreno, e ancora oggi il Borgo mantiene l’aspetto medievale.
All’interno dell’abitato la Chiesa di San Benedetto, dove si segnalano gli affreschi cinquecenteschi nell’abside raffiguranti l’Assunzione della Vergine, firmati dai fratelli Angelucci di Mevale e il palazzo comunale.
