> An extraordinary work by Arnolfo di Cambio, "the Fountain of the thirsty", created between 1277 and 1281, located in the lower part of the square of Perugia and already dismembered at least since 1308. In the National Gallery of Umbria some precious sculptural elements are preserved of the complex: oldest thirsty, the young thirsty and the paralytic, works of the highest artistic quality that narrate in "direct connection" the most humble aspects of the daily life of the city and where the theme of water is tackled as well dispensed to the people by the city council, as well as a religious symbol of divine salvation.

> Un’opera straordinaria di Arnolfo di Cambio, la Fontana degli assetati, realizzata tra il 1277 e il 1281, collocata nella parte bassa della piazza di Perugia e già smembrata almeno dal 1308. Nella Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria si conservano alcuni preziosi elementi scultorei del complesso: la Vecchia assetata, la Giovane assetata e il Paralitico, opere di altissima qualità artistica che narrano in “presa diretta” gli aspetti più umili della vita quotidiana cittadina dell’epoca e dove il tema dell’acqua è affrontato come bene dispensato al popolo dal Comune cittadino, oltre che come simbolo religioso di salvezza divina.
